You no longer see them through your feelings. You no longer see them with the eyes of the heart and the intention of love and warmth. You now see their images repeatedly, as if they are strangers you’re dealing with. It’s not about your emotions anymore. The biggest proof is that you no longer miss them. You don’t ask about them. You don’t think about them. Their images remain, but that emotional connection that once made you feel everything—has faded.

The eyes of the heart have become afraid. They hesitate. They don’t believe anymore in the emotions you thought belonged to them. The eyes of the heart fear, hesitate, and fail to trust. This is what the heart feels when it is unconditionally in love. This is the person who once filled your chest but now passes through your life without effect.

The eyes of the heart remain stuck in every situation, waiting for any sign, or the smallest of mistakes to excuse departure.

The poet says:

“In the language of the heart, if you bring me peace, then that is enough for me.
The eyes of the heart don’t betray you. They don’t replace you. Your place is sacred and cannot be touched.
The eyes of the heart don’t return to someone who didn’t preserve their presence.”

We live in a city of emotional numbness, as if we are all strangers. And yet, the eyes of the heart still cry out with emotion. So engage with those who love you. Feel with them as if you were holding onto life itself.
